A CLEAR PROCESS FOR CLIENTS

At TQ Constructions, we're conscious that the initial decision to renovate or extend may sometimes be followed by a sense of overwhelm.  Where to start?  What to do next?  What else is needed?  It can feel like a lot to navigate.  We aim to minimise such stress by providing a clear step-by-step explanation of our process, and to support our clients' understanding as we move through each stage.

HOW WE WORK

1.  When you first make contact with us, Grant will arrange a suitable time to meet at the property.  He'll discuss your requirements, our availability, and offer broad advice if needed on layout and practicality of design.

2.  We'll then prepare a fixed price quote, complete with a detailed scope of works.  The scope allows you to see clearly everything that has been included in the price, as well as any agreed exclusions or PC allowances.  This quote is valid for 30 days, during which time we must receive confirmation if you wish to proceed.  (In some instances where a client knows from the outset that they may not be in a position to proceed with the work for some time, they may request an estimation rather than a quote.  This price is a guide only, and subject to change.)

3.  Once we have received written confirmation of your acceptance, we'll go ahead and arrange a contract if required (any job exceeding $5000.)  We use the Master Builders Association contracts, so clients can enjoy the confidence of knowing that they are protected through the process.  As soon as the contracts are ready, we'll be in touch to make a time to sign.

4.  Upon signing the contracts, we'll proceed to organise HBCF insurance if applicable.  For any work over $20,000 (combined materials and labour), your builder is required to provide Home Building Compensation Fund (HBCF) cover. This is an insurance that protects the client. It ensures that the work is completed even if circumstances arise where the contracted builder is unable to finish (for example, as the result of death or insolvency).  We are required to provide you with a copy of the insurance certificate before taking a deposit or commencing work.

5.  A 10% deposit will then be taken before work begins.  Grant will confirm the start date and we'll get underway!
